His full name is Shaquille Rashaun O’Neal,  a 50 years old ex-NBA player and basketball analyst. He was born to American parents, Joe Toney, who was a former basketball player and a state guard, and his wife Lucy O’Neal, the president of  MPBP (Mother of Professional Basketball Players) on the 6th of March 1972 in Newark, New Jersey.

Shaq’s dad was imprisoned at his tender age due to drug addiction, so he didn’t get to grow up with his biological father. He was raised by his stepfather, Philip Arthur Harrison, a sergeant in the army whom his mum married after the dad went to prison. There he had three other siblings, Jamal, Lateefah, and Ayesha from his stepfather. This helped Shaq grow with fellow children even though he was quite older than them.

Shaquille O’Neal had his high school education in San Antonio, Texas where he was noticed by his teachers and other college recruiters after he played with his teammates in the state basketball competition. Afterward, he proceeded to Louisiana State University to obtain a degree in general studies, unfortunately, he dropped out earlier to pursue his passion (basketball) and he completed the degree in 2000 after he became a sensation.

Shaq did not get a lot of fame from acting in movies, rapping, and doing voice covers. He’s well-known as one of the most outstanding basketball players of his time in the NBA. He stands as a 4 time NBA winner who took his teams to championships severally in the whole 6 teams he played.

O’Neal was a part of the American Olympics in 1996, that same year he entered the Los Angeles Lakers where he played alongside other vibrant and prominent players like Kobe Bryant. After years of teamwork, O’Neal was sold to Miami Heat where he performed exquisitely and went for the championship in 2006. He sustained injuries that impeded his performance on the team so he was bought by the Phoenix Sun in 2008. 

Shaq had a tough time playing in the team because of their differences in style so he went to Cleveland Cavaliers in 2009 and one year later he moved to Boston Celtics, and then retired after sustaining a tendon injury totaling about 28,596 points all through his career.
