Selena Gomez Weight Gain, Depression & Health Issues.

Selena Gomez Weight Gain

One of the most successful American actresses and singers, Selena Gomez, nearly needs no introduction. She started her career as a child actress on the popular television show Barney & Friends. She has also appeared in several movies, including the Disney Channel’s original film, Princess Protection Program. However, she has always had a hard time battling significant weight gain. This article will dive into the reason for this situation and everything in between.

How Did Selena Gain Weight?

Selena Gomez’s medical history is one of the main reasons for her weight gain. She had Lupus, which led to significant weight gain. This made it hard for her to maintain a healthy body weight. While some of this weight may have been due to medication side effects, likely, much of it was simply from her growth and change in disease activity.

On her TikTok series, Selena Gomez revealed that she tries to stay away from fast food as much as possible, but sometimes she’ll go all in. She shared, “I’m trying to stay skinny, but I went to Jack in the Box and got four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings, and a spicy chicken sandwich.”

She also shared how Lupus, one of the diseases she suffered from in the past, contributed to her weight gain.

"I have lupus, and I have kidney issues in addition to high blood pressure, so for me, it was around that time that I really started noticing the body image stuff." She further added "They think about the wrong thing to say, which is like, 'Oh, you're fat now,' because I've gained weight since then," Gomez said of what people say about her. "I just want to be clear that I'm not recommending people being out of shape or gaining weight. I went through a fairy transition, and my body changed. For me, it was an experience."

Selena’s Weight Fluctuation

Weight fluctuation is a common occurrence, especially for women. Many factors can lead to weight gain or loss, including stress, hormonal changes, diet, and exercise habits. Selena Gomez is no stranger to weight fluctuations. The actress and singer have been open about her past struggles with body image and anxiety. In 2016, she revealed that she had gained some weight due to stress and anxiety surrounding her career.

“I fluctuate a lot with my weight. I don’t have to be that 19-year-old body shape anymore,” Gomez said in an interview concerning her appearance at the 2015 Met Gala. She added, “I think we came together and built something wonderful that fit me really well. That was one of the moments where I was like, ‘I don’t have to be that 19-year-old body shape anymore because I’m not.'”

The following year, Gomez lost some of the weight she had gained and looked noticeably thinner. This led to speculation about her health and whether or not she was suffering from an eating disorder. However, Gomez later opened up about her malnourishment issues in an interview. She said,

“I do eat. The problem is that I don't eat right. I love everything that's possibly not good for me.”

Selena has said that she was exhausted and malnourished, and she believes that this is due to her poor food choices. She has explained that she often skips meals or chooses unhealthy options when she does eat. This can lead to low energy levels and weight loss, which worsens Selena’s health problems.

Nevertheless, these days, Gomez seems to be at a healthy weight and is comfortable with her body. Selena Gomez is confident and comfortable in her skin – no matter what her weight may be!
