He full name is Mariska Magdolna HargitayShe was born on January 23, 1964, in California, USA. Her father Mickey Hargitay was a bodybuilder and her mother Jayne Mansfield was an actress. Unfortunately, her parents divorced in the same year she was born. Later after getting divorced from his father, Mariska’s mother Jayne married Matt Cimber. And in 1967, her mother died in a car crash. Mariska who was 3 & a half year old at that time was sleeping in the back of the car with her two older brothers. Luckily all 3 siblings survived with minor injuries in the car crash. 

After the death of her mother, all three were raised by their stepmother and the third wife of her father Ellen Siano. Ellen didn’t have any biological children of her own. She treated Mariska and her brothers as her own.

From becoming Miss Beverley Hills to winning Emmy & Golden Globe Awards, Mariska has achieved a lot in her life. She started her career with the music video “She Loves My Car“. Later she played a small role in the horror movie “Ghoulies“. After that Mariska played different-different roles in various movies. But most people remember her for her role as Detective Olivia Benson in NBC’s Law And Order: Special Victims Unit. The TV show started in 1999 and had 24 seasons and almost run for 2 decades. Mariska married her boyfriend and her co-actor Peter Hermann in 2004. They met on the sets of her famous police show Law & Order. In the show, Peter played the role of defense attorney Trevor Langan. The couple has been blessed with three beautiful Children. Two of them have been adopted by the couple.

You might don’t know but apart from being a good actor Mariska is also a good human being. She is actively associated with philanthropist works. Mariska founded Joyful Heart Foundation in 2004. The main purpose of this organization is to help & support the victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse.

But she was working long hours on the sets, and she got used to the routine of using food for comfort during those long shoots during her pregnancy. She was lacking energy and continuously ate food during these times. But slowly this habit caused damage to her health. She gained 54 lbs of weight and also contracted gestational diabetes.
